Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.
- 2
Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small pinhole on the left side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.
- 3
Heat the Display Edges
3 minApply heat evenly around the perimeter of the screen for 2 to 3 minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer. This softens the adhesive holding the display to the frame.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the front glass panel. Pull up gently to create a slight gap between the glass and the aluminum frame.
- 5
Slice Screen Adhesive
5 minInsert a plastic prying pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick along all four edges to sever the display adhesive.
- 6
Pivot the Display Assembly
2 minGently lift the top edge of the display away from the frame like a book. Do not pull it away entirely, as ribbon cables are still attached near the bottom.
- 7
Unscrew Display Bracket
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal shield over the display cable connector.
- 8
Disconnect Display Cable
1 minPry the display flex cable straight up from its connector on the logic board using the flat end of a spudger.
- 9
Remove Display Assembly
1 minLift the entire display assembly off the device frame and place it on a clean surface.
- 10
Unscrew Midframe Assembly
4 minRemove all Phillips screws securing the internal midframe bracket to the phone chassis.
- 11
Remove Midframe Bracket
3 minInsert a plastic spudger around the edge of the plastic midframe and gently pry it away from the metal chassis.
- 12
Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse a spudger to lift the battery connector straight up from the motherboard to cut power to the device.
- 13
Disconnect Camera Flex Cables
2 minPry up the front-facing and rear-facing camera press-fit connectors from the logic board using tweezers or a spudger.
- 14
Disconnect Antenna Cable
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the coaxial antenna cable connector off the corner of the logic board.
- 15
Unscrew Logic Board
3 minRemove the remaining Phillips screws holding the logic board to the rear aluminum body.
- 16
Remove Logic Board
2 minCarefully pry up the logic board from the top edge and lift it out of the phone body.
