   Power down and remove SIM tray

   Press and hold the power button to turn off the Moto G5S Plus completely. Insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole on the left edge to remove the SIM and microSD tray.

   Heat display perimeter

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to warm the outer glass edges for two minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the display to the frame.

   Attach suction cup

   Place a suction cup onto the lower portion of the screen just above the fingerprint sensor. Pull up firmly to create a small gap between the glass and metal bezel.

   Slice display adhesive

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it along the perimeter to slice through the adhesive. Do not insert the pick deeper than 3 mm near the top camera and sensor array.

   Open display glass

   Gently hinge the display open from the left edge like a book page. Do not pull the screen away completely, as fragile flex cables are still connected.

   Remove display cable bracket

   Remove the two Phillips #000 screws holding the metal bracket over the display connector. Set the bracket aside in a safe spot.

   Disconnect display flex cable

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the display cable straight up from its motherboard socket. Separate the screen completely from the phone frame.

   Remove midframe screws

   Unscrew all 16 Phillips #000 screws holding the internal midframe to the rear aluminum body. Keep track of the screws for reassembly.

   Lift internal midframe

   Insert a spudger between the midframe and outer casing along the perimeter. Pry gently to unclip and remove the midframe.

    Disconnect battery flex cable

    Pry up the press-fit battery connector from the top left section of the motherboard using a plastic spudger. This cuts power to the board during repair.

    Remove loudspeaker module

    Locate the loudspeaker assembly at the bottom of the casing and remove its retaining screw. Use tweezers to lift the speaker module off the chassis.

    Install replacement speaker

    Position the new replacement speaker into the bottom cavity, ensuring spring contacts align properly. Press down gently until it sits flush.

    Reconnect battery flex cable

    Align the battery flex connector over its socket on the motherboard and press down until it snaps securely into place.

    Reinstall internal midframe

    Position the midframe over the chassis, press along the edges to snap the clips, and secure all 16 Phillips screws.

    Remove old adhesive residue from the perimeter frame using isopropyl alcohol. Apply fresh custom precut screen adhesive tape to the frame.

    Carefully align the display with the frame and press firmly along all edges to seat the display and bond the adhesive.
