Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Remove SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone to eject the SIM and microSD card tray.

Heat Front Glass
3 minApply heat around the perimeter of the screen for two to three minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass, just above the fingerprint sensor.

Pry Bottom Edge
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a gap between the glass and frame, then insert a plastic opening pick.

Slice Screen Adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the screen to cut through the display adhesive.

Lift Screen Assembly
2 minGently pivot the top of the display up like a book cover, taking care not to strain connected cables at the bottom.

Unscrew Connector Shield
2 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws securing the metal bracket over the motherboard connectors.

Remove Connector Shield
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the metal shield covering the display and battery flex connections.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery flex cable straight up from its motherboard socket.

1 minPry the display flex cable connector straight up off the motherboard.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
1 minDisconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable from the motherboard connector.

Remove Screen Assembly
1 minFree the display assembly completely from the body and set it face down on your work surface.

Detach Fingerprint Sensor
3 minWarm the home button area slightly, then use a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor off the old screen.

Install Fingerprint Sensor
2 minTransfer the fingerprint sensor to the mounting slot on the new display assembly.

Clean Frame Residue
4 minScrape remaining adhesive off the aluminum frame using a plastic spudger and clean it with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply New Adhesive
3 minPlace pre-cut adhesive strips precisely around the inner ledge of the phone frame.

Connect Sensor and Display
2 minAttach the fingerprint sensor flex cable and display flex cable to their sockets on the motherboard.

Reconnect Battery Cable
1 minPress the battery cable connector straight down onto the motherboard until it snaps into place.

Reinstall Metal Shield
2 minSet the metal connector bracket back in place and secure it with two Phillips #00 screws.

Seal Display Assembly
2 minAlign the screen with the phone body and press firmly along the perimeter to set the adhesive.

Reinsert SIM Tray
1 minPush the SIM and microSD card tray back into the slot on the left side of the phone.
