Step-by-step

Power off the device

Eject the SIM card tray

Heat the back cover
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the rear panel edges for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly near the bottom edge of the rear panel and gently pull up to create a gap.

Insert an opening pick
1 minSlide a plastic opening pick into the gap under the back cover edge.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the factory adhesive.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear cover straight up off the chassis and set it aside.

Unscrew the upper bracket
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper motherboard shield.

1 minInsert a spudger beneath the edge of the loudspeaker and lift it out of the lower chassis.

Apply isopropyl alcohol
2 minDrip a small amount of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the left and right edges of the battery.

Pry out the old battery
3 minInsert a flat plastic spudger under the battery and carefully lever it out from the adhesive well.

Clean the battery well
2 minWipe away residual adhesive in the battery compartment using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

Apply new adhesive strips
2 minPeel and lay down new battery adhesive strips into the recessed battery bay.

Install the replacement battery
1 minLower the new battery into place and press down firmly across its surface to set the adhesive.

Connect the battery flex cable

Reinstall the loudspeaker module
