Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the side of the phone and pull out the SIM tray.

Heat the Back Cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer along the back perimeter for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull gently to create a gap.

Slice the Adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it along all edges to cut the adhesive.

Remove the Back Cover
1 minLift the rear plastic cover away from the phone frame and set it aside.

Unscrew the Lower Speaker Cover
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws holding the bottom speaker housing in place.

Remove the Speaker Module
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the lower speaker module and lift it out of the chassis.

Disconnect the Interconnect Flex Cable
2 minPry up the lower connector of the main ribbon cable from the daughterboard using a spudger.

Disconnect the Antenna Cable
2 minUse fine tweezers to carefully unclip the coaxial antenna connector from the daughterboard.

Remove the Faulty Sub-Board
2 minGently pry beneath the lower daughterboard containing the primary microphone and remove it.

Position the New Sub-Board
2 minPlace the new sub-board equipped with the replacement microphone into the lower frame recess.

Reconnect Flex and Antenna Cables
2 minPress the interconnect flex connector and snap the coaxial cable back onto the new board.

Reinstall the Speaker Module
3 minFit the speaker cover over the bottom assembly and drive in the Phillips screws to secure it.

Apply Fresh Back Cover Adhesive
3 minClean off old adhesive and apply new pre-cut adhesive tape along the frame perimeter.

Reattach the Back Cover
2 minAlign the back cover with the frame and press firmly along all edges to seal it.
