   Power down the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to completely turn off the Moto G54.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray and push gently to pop it out.

   Heat the back cover

   Apply a heat gun evenly around the outer edges of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Apply suction cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower portion of the back panel and pull up firmly to create a small gap.

   Insert opening pick

   Slide a plastic opening pick into the gap created between the plastic back cover and the frame.

   Slice back cover adhesive

   Glide the opening pick along all four edges to cut through the perimeter adhesive.

   Lift off back panel

   Carefully lift the back cover away from the phone body and set it aside.

   Unscrew midframe fasteners

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the plastic midframe.

   Unclip the midframe

   Run a flat plastic spudger along the midframe seam to detach the locking clips.

    Disconnect fingerprint reader flex

    Carefully pry up the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable connector attached to the midframe.

    Remove the midframe

    Lift the midframe structure off the phone frame to expose the internal components.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

    Disconnect interconnect flex cables

    Unplug the display and main-to-sub board ribbon cables that cross over the battery.

    Apply adhesive solvent

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol under the edges of the battery to loosen adhesive.

    Pry up the battery

    Slide a flat plastic card under the battery and lift gently from the bottom edge to break the adhesive bond.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the degraded battery out of the frame chassis and set it in a safe location.

    Clean battery compartment

    Wipe away residual adhesive from the battery frame using isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth.

    Apply replacement adhesive

    Lay down fresh double-sided battery adhesive strips into the empty battery compartment.

    Install the new battery

    Position the new battery in the recess and press down firmly to secure it to the frame.

    Reconnect ribbon cables

    Attach the interconnect cables and battery flex cable by aligning and pressing down until they snap into place.

    Position the midframe close to the board and press the fingerprint reader cable connector into place.

    Reinstall the midframe

    Snap the midframe back onto the chassis and tighten all Phillips #00 screws.

    Reseal the back cover

    Apply fresh adhesive tape around the frame perimeter and press the back cover down tightly.

    Reinsert the SIM tray

    Push the SIM card tray back into its slot until it sits flush with the side frame.
