Step-by-step
- 1
Power off device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to shut down the phone completely.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the hole next to the SIM card tray on the left edge and pull the tray out.

Heat back cover
2 minApply heat using a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup
2 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull upward firmly to create a small opening gap.

Slice adhesive perimeter
3 minInsert a plastic prying pick into the gap and slide it slowly around all edges to slice through the back cover adhesive.

Remove back cover
1 minCarefully lift the back cover completely off the phone frame and place it on a clean surface.

Unscrew lower housing
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing.

Remove loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert the pointed end of a spudger under the top corner of the loudspeaker housing and lift it away from the chassis.

Disconnect main flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the lower end of the main interconnect flex cable from the sub-board.

Disconnect antenna cable
2 minGently pry up the white coaxial antenna cable connector from the bottom sub-board using fine tweezers.

Remove daughterboard screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw securing the daughterboard to the internal frame.

Pry out daughterboard
2 minSlide a spudger under the edge of the sub-board containing the damaged primary microphone and lift it from the phone.

Transfer microphone rubber boot
2 minUse tweezers to carefully remove the tiny rubber microphone gasket from the old board and install it on the new board.

Install replacement daughterboard
2 minPosition the new microphone sub-board into the bottom chassis recess and press gently into place.

Secure daughterboard screw
1 minReinstall the single Phillips #000 screw to lock the new daughterboard to the frame.

Reconnect antenna and flex cable
2 minSnap the coaxial antenna cable and main interconnect flex cable firmly back onto their sub-board connectors.

Reinstall loudspeaker enclosure
3 minPlace the loudspeaker cover back over the daughterboard and tighten the seven Phillips #000 screws.

Reattach back cover
3 minApply new adhesive tape around the perimeter of the phone frame, then align and press the back cover tightly to seal.
