Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button until the options menu appears, then tap Power Off to turn down the device completely.

Remove the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the upper-left side of the phone to eject the SIM card tray.

Heat the Rear Cover
3 minApply heat around the edges of the back cover using a heat gun set to low for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and press firmly to seal it.

Slice the Cover Adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a gap, insert a plastic prying pick, and slide it around the perimeter to sever the tape.

Lift Away the Rear Cover

Pry Out the Loudspeaker Module
2 minInsert a flat spudger under the corner of the loudspeaker and carefully lift it out of the phone.

1 minLocate the battery flex connector on the motherboard and disconnect it using a plastic spudger to cut power.

Disconnect the Main Interconnect Cable
2 minPry up the lower press connector of the main ribbon cable attached to the charging port sub-board.

Disconnect the Coaxial Antenna Cable
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the antenna cable head straight up off its socket on the daughterboard.

Remove the Sub-Board Screws
2 minUnscrew the remaining Phillips screws holding the sub-board to the bottom of the housing.

Pry Up the Sub-Board
2 minWedge a plastic opening tool under the edge of the daughterboard and carefully pry it out of the chassis.

Apply Flux to the Charging Port
2 minApply a liberal amount of liquid or paste flux across the USB-C port solder pads and mounting legs on the sub-board.

Desolder the Damaged USB-C Port
6 minTouch a hot soldering iron with desoldering braid to the anchor legs and pins to absorb all old solder, then remove the broken port.

Solder the New USB-C Port
8 minPosition the replacement USB-C port on the board, tack the anchor pins with fresh solder, and carefully solder each data and power pin.
