Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole beside the SIM card tray. Press firmly to pop the tray out, then slide it completely out of the frame.

Heat the back cover
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to heat the outer edges of the back cover for 2 to 3 minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the rear panel.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover. Pull upward firmly to create a small gap between the rear panel and the frame.

Slice the back cover adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick around all four edges to slice through the adhesive seal.

Remove the back cover
1 minGently lift the back cover straight up and off the chassis. Set the panel aside in a clean, dust-free area.

Unscrew the upper midframe bracket
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper plastic midframe cover. Keep the screws organized for reassembly.

Pry off the upper midframe cover
2 minInsert a flat plastic spudger beneath the edge of the plastic midframe cover. Lift up to release the plastic clips and remove the cover.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minLocate the battery flex connector on the logic board. Use the flat edge of a plastic spudger to gently pop the connector straight up from its socket.

Disconnect display and main flex cables
2 minUse your plastic spudger to disconnect the display ribbon cable and the main interconnect board flex cable from the logic board.

Detach the antenna coaxial cables
2 minUse fine-tipped tweezers to carefully pry up the small round antenna coaxial connectors from the logic board. Unclip the cables from their routing channels.

Disconnect the camera modules
2 minUnplug the rear camera array flex cables and the front selfie camera cable from the upper section of the logic board.

Unscrew the logic board retaining screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the logic board directly to the phone's interior frame.

Extract the logic board
2 minCarefully pry under the bottom edge of the logic board with a plastic spudger. Lift the board up and out of the chassis without snagging any lingering cables.
