   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.

   Remove the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then remove it completely.

   Heat the back cover

   Apply heat to the outer edges of the rear cover using a heat gun or hair dryer on low for 2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

   Attach the suction cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower portion of the back cover. Pull up on the suction ring gently to create a small gap between the cover and the frame.

   Slice the back cover adhesive

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick around all edges to slice through the adhesive seal.

   Lift off the back cover

   Carefully tilt and lift the rear cover away from the chassis. Set the back cover aside on a clean surface.

   Unscrew the midframe shield

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 13 screws securing the upper motherboard shield and midframe cover.

   Remove the midframe shield

   Insert the flat end of a spudger under the corner of the midframe shield. Pry gently upward to release the clips and remove the shield.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Use a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector directly up from its socket on the motherboard. This cuts power to prevent short circuits.

    Disconnect the power button flex

    Locate the power button/fingerprint reader flex cable connector on the right edge of the motherboard. Use a spudger to pop the connector straight off.

    Pry out the power button module

    Use precision tweezers to gently detach the power button and flex cable assembly from the interior slot in the side frame.

    Install the new power button cable

    Place the new power button flex assembly into the recessed slot on the side frame. Press gently along the cable to adhere it into place.

    Connect the power button flex

    Align the power button flex connector over its motherboard socket. Press down firmly with a thumb until it clicks into position.

    Reconnect the battery cable

    Align the battery press connector over its motherboard socket. Press down firmly to snap it back into place.

    Reinstall the midframe shield

    Position the plastic midframe shield over the upper motherboard and press down to snap the clips into place. Secure all 13 Phillips #00 screws.

    Reseal the back cover

    Apply new adhesive tape along the perimeter of the inner frame. Align the back cover onto the chassis and press firmly along the edges to seal.
