Power Off the Phone

Remove the Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic prying tool or fingernail into the notch at the bottom edge of the phone. Gently pry up to unclip the back cover and lift it off.

Remove the Battery
1 minLift the removable battery out of its compartment using the recessed notch at the bottom. Store the battery in a safe, cool place.

Remove SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minSlide the SIM card and microSD card straight out of their respective card slots. Set them aside safely for reassembly.

Unscrew Midframe Screws
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all nineteen screws securing the plastic rear midframe to the phone chassis.

Pry Up Midframe Edges
3 minInsert a plastic prying tool between the midframe and the front glass assembly. Work the tool around the perimeter to release the plastic clips.

Separate the Midframe
1 minCarefully lift the rear midframe off the phone body. Lay the disassembled midframe flat on your workspace.

Disconnect Volume Flex Connector
2 minUse the tip of a spudger to gently flip open the ZIF connector locking flap. Slide the volume button flex ribbon out of the socket.

Peel Off Volume Button Flex Cable
2 minInsert fine tweezers under the volume button flex cable along the side inner housing. Slowly peel the adhesive-backed flex strip away.

Remove Physical Volume Rocker
1 minUse tweezers to push the plastic physical volume button rocker inward from the outer chassis slot and extract it.

Install Replacement Volume Rocker
2 minPosition the new physical volume button key into the side frame slot from the inside. Ensure it sits flush and moves freely.

Position New Volume Flex Cable
2 minPeel off any protective film from the adhesive side of the new volume flex cable. Align the tactile buttons directly behind the rocker key.

Press Flex Cable Into Place
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to press the flex cable firmly against the frame to secure the adhesive bond.

Connect Volume Flex Cable
2 minSlide the end of the flex cable ribbon straight into the motherboard socket. Flip down the ZIF locking lever to secure it.

Reattach Rear Midframe
2 minLower the rear midframe back onto the main display assembly. Press firmly around the edges until all plastic tabs snap shut.

Reinstall Midframe Screws
4 minReinsert and tighten the nineteen Phillips #00 screws around the midframe to secure the assembly.

Reinsert Cards and Battery
1 minSlide your SIM card and microSD card back into their slots, then align and press the battery back into its bay.

Snap On Back Cover
1 minAlign the back cover over the phone body and press around the perimeter until all clips snap flush into place.
