Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to shut down the phone completely.

Eject the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone to pop out the tray. Remove the SIM tray entirely from the device.

Heat the Rear Cover
3 minApply heat around the perimeter of the back cover for 2 to 3 minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive.

Insert Plastic Opening Pick
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower rear panel, pull upward gently, and insert a plastic pick into the seam.

Slice the Rear Adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully along all four edges of the back cover to cut through the perimeter adhesive.

Remove the Rear Cover
2 minSlowly lift the back cover off the chassis and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew the Midframe Cover
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic midframe shield to the body.

Remove the Midframe Bracket
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the edge of the midframe cover and gently pop it off the phone housing.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from the motherboard using the flat edge of a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the Screen Cable
1 minLocate the display flex cable on the main board and disconnect it using your spudger tool.

Heat the Display Glass
3 minWarm the entire front glass screen with your heat gun for 3 minutes to loosen the screen glue.

Attach Suction Cup to Glass
1 minPress the suction cup near the bottom edge of the screen and pull upward until a small gap appears.

Slice the Display Adhesive
4 minInsert an opening pick into the gap between the glass and frame, then slide it around all edges.

Lift Away Broken Display
2 minCarefully lift the old display from the frame while guiding the flex cable out through the frame slot.

Clean Frame Edge Adhesive
4 minScrape off residual adhesive and glass splinters from the frame bezel using isopropyl alcohol and a spudger.

Apply New Display Adhesive
3 minPlace pre-cut double-sided adhesive strips along the top, bottom, and side ledges of the internal frame.

Thread Display Flex Cable
2 minFeed the flexible ribbon cable of the new screen panel through the slot in the phone's middle frame.

Press New Display into Place
2 minAlign the screen panel carefully with the outer rim, then press firmly around the edges to stick it down.

Connect New Display Flex
1 minAlign and press the screen ribbon cable connector directly into its socket on the motherboard until it clicks.
