Step-by-step

Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left edge of the phone to pop out the tray. Remove the SIM tray completely.

Heat the rear cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to apply warmth around the outer edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Press firmly to secure it to the surface.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then slide a plastic prying tool under the back cover.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the plastic pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the remaining adhesive.

Remove the rear cover
1 minGently lift the rear cover off the frame and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the speaker cover
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the lower speaker module over the daughterboard.

Pry up the speaker module
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the edge of the speaker housing and carefully lift it out.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cable
1 minPry up the press-fit main ribbon cable connector from the bottom daughterboard using a spudger.

Unclip the antenna cables
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the coaxial antenna cable heads off their terminals on the daughterboard.

Remove the microphone sub-board
2 minSlide a spudger beneath the bottom sub-board, which contains the microphone, and pry it out of the housing.

Insert the new sub-board
2 minPlace the replacement sub-board into the bottom chassis recess and align it with the alignment pins.

Reconnect the antenna cables
2 minAlign the antenna coaxial connectors over their sub-board sockets and press straight down until they snap into place.

Reattach the interconnect flex cable
1 minPosition the press-fit ribbon cable connector over the sub-board port and press down firmly to connect it.

Place the speaker module
1 minSet the speaker housing back into position over the bottom daughterboard assembly.

Tighten the speaker screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the Phillips #00 screws to secure the speaker module to the phone frame.

Apply back cover adhesive
3 minApply new pre-cut adhesive strips along the inner perimeter of the rear housing.

Press the rear cover into place
2 minAlign the back cover over the phone and press down firmly around the edges to establish a tight seal.
