Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shutdown the device.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole on the left side of the frame to release the SIM tray.

Heat the back cover
3 minApply heat evenly around the perimeter of the rear glass cover using a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover and press down firmly to create a seal.

Slice through the rear adhesive
5 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick and slide it along the edges to separate the glue.

Remove the back cover
2 minGently lift the back cover off the chassis once all edges are fully sliced.

Unscrew the upper motherboard bracket
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the top plastic motherboard shield.

Remove the upper shield
2 minUse a spudger to pry up and remove the plastic protective bracket covering the logic board.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from the logic board using a nylon spudger to prevent electrical shorts.

Disconnect the main interconnect flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to lift the main flex cable connector off the bottom of the logic board.

Disconnect the display flex cable
1 minUnsnap the display connector from its socket on the motherboard with a plastic prying tool.

Unplug the coaxial antenna cables
2 minCarefully pry up the small round antenna cable connectors from the logic board using tweezers.

Remove logic board mounting screws
2 minUnscrew the remaining Phillips screws holding the motherboard directly to the internal frame.

Lift out the logic board
2 minInsert a spudger under the top edge of the board and gently lift the logic board out of the chassis.

Position the new logic board
3 minLower the replacement logic board into the frame, aligning it with the camera cutouts and screw posts.

Secure motherboard screws
2 minReinstall the Phillips screws to hold the new logic board firmly in place.

Reconnect flex cables and antennas
4 minSnap the display flex, interconnect flex, and coaxial antenna cables back onto their respective board sockets.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minPress the battery connector down onto the logic board socket until it clicks into place.

Reinstall the upper bracket and back cover
5 minScrew the top protective shield back into place and seal the rear cover with fresh adhesive strips.
