Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Pry open the back cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch near the micro-USB port at the bottom corner. Pry upward to unlatch the corner of the back cover.

Remove the back cover
1 minRun the opening tool around the perimeter to release all retaining clips. Lift the plastic back cover off the device and set it aside.

Remove SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card and microSD card from their respective card slots.

Unscrew the midframe
5 minUse a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove all twenty T3 screws securing the plastic inner midframe assembly.

Unclip the midframe edge
3 minInsert a plastic pry tool into the seam between the frame bezel and display assembly. Carefully pry around the edges to release the internal plastic latches.

Lift away the midframe
1 minGently lift the plastic midframe straight up and off the phone chassis.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to lever the battery flex cable connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Extract the original speaker
2 minInsert precision tweezers under the edge of the loudspeaker module at the bottom of the phone. Pry the speaker assembly up out of its recessed channel.

Install the new speaker
1 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker unit with the lower speaker recess. Press down gently until the spring contacts fit flush.

Reconnect the battery
1 minAlign the battery flex connector directly over motherboard socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

Snap the midframe in place
2 minPosition the midframe onto the body of the phone. Press firmly along the edges to engage all plastic clips.

Reinstall the midframe screws
5 minThread and tighten the twenty T3 Torx screws to secure the plastic midframe assembly.

Reinsert cards
1 minPush the SIM card and microSD card back into their respective tray slots.

Reattach the back cover
1 minAlign the back cover over the rear of the phone and press firmly along all perimeter edges until it clicks into place completely.
