Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap 'Power Off' on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Remove the back cover
2 minInsert a fingernail or plastic opening pick into the notch at the bottom edge and pry the back cover off.

Eject SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card and microSD card from their respective slots.

Unscrew the midframe
5 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the nineteen screws securing the plastic midframe to the body.

Remove the midframe cover
3 minInsert a spudger around the edges to release the plastic clips and lift off the midframe cover.

Disconnect the battery cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Disconnect the display flex cable
2 minFlip up the locking tab on the display ZIF connector and carefully slide the flex cable out.

Disconnect the digitizer flex cable
2 minUnlock the digitizer ZIF flap with tweezers and pull the ribbon cable out of the socket.

Disconnect the front camera
2 minPry up the press connector for the front-facing camera and remove it from the device.

Disconnect the rear camera
2 minUnplug the rear camera press connector and lift the camera module out of its recess.

Remove motherboard mounting screws
3 minRemove the remaining T3 Torx screws holding the logic board to the frame assembly.

Lift out the logic board
3 minGently pry up the bottom edge of the logic board and pull it away from the chassis.
