Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Pry off the back cover
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool or thumbnail into the notch near the USB charging port. Gently lift and pull the flexible back cover away from the phone body.

Remove SIM and microSD trays
1 minSlide out any installed SIM cards and microSD cards from their respective slots on the back of the device.

Unscrew the midframe cover
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 19 screws securing the internal midframe plate.

Peel back the camera accent sticker
2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the small dark sticker near the camera bump to expose any hidden frame clips or screws.

Unclip and remove the midframe
3 minInsert a plastic spudger between the outer edge of the frame and the display assembly. Pry around the perimeter to release the plastic clips and lift the midframe off.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
2 minLocate the battery connector on the motherboard. Pry it straight up with the flat end of a plastic spudger to cut power to the device.

Disconnect the rear camera connector
2 minLocate the rear camera press connector at the top of the motherboard. Pry the press connector straight up out of its socket using a spudger.

Remove the damaged rear camera
2 minGently lift the rear camera module out of its recessed well on the motherboard using precision tweezers.

Insert the new rear camera
2 minPosition the new rear camera module into the empty motherboard recess with the flex cable aligned toward the connector.

Attach the camera flex connector
2 minAlign the press connector directly over its socket on the motherboard and press down firmly with your finger until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minAlign the battery flex connector over its terminal and press down firmly to re-establish power.

Snap the midframe back into place
3 minPosition the midframe cover over the back of the phone and press firmly along the edges until all plastic tabs snap closed.

Reinstall all midframe screws
4 minUse your Phillips #00 screwdriver to re-thread and tighten all 19 screws around the midframe housing.

Reinsert SIM and microSD cards
1 minPush your SIM card and microSD card back into their designated card slots until fully seated.

Reattach the outer back cover
2 minPlace the rear plastic shell onto the back of the device and press around all edges until it snaps flush.
