Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Make sure the phone is completely powered down before beginning.

Eject the SIM and SD card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the hole beside the card tray. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Remove the plastic back cover
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the notch near the micro-USB port. Slide the pick around the edge to unclip the rear cover and lift it away.

Unscrew the midframe Torx screws
4 minUse a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove all 19 screws securing the internal plastic midframe to the phone chassis.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable
2 minGently lift the lower end of the midframe to access the fingerprint sensor ribbon. Use tweezers to flip up the ZIF connector locking latch and slide the cable out.

Remove the midframe assembly
1 minLift the midframe completely off the chassis to expose the logic board and battery.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
2 minInsert the flat end of a plastic spudger beneath the battery connector and pry it straight up from the logic board.

Disconnect the display cable
2 minUse a spudger to lift the small retaining flap on the display ZIF socket. Slide the display flex ribbon out of the connector.

Disconnect the digitizer flex cable
2 minFlip up the ZIF connector lock securing the digitizer ribbon and carefully pull the cable out.

Remove the rear-facing camera
2 minPry up the rear camera press connector with a spudger. Lift the camera module out of its recessed notch.

Remove the front-facing camera
2 minDisconnect the front camera press connector from the logic board and lift the camera away from the frame.

Remove the logic board
3 minCarefully insert a spudger under the top edge of the logic board and lift it out from the plastic enclosure.

Inspect and clean contact pads
3 minApply 99% isopropyl alcohol to a lint-free swab and clean all ZIF connector contacts and gold ground pads on the logic board.

Seat the new logic board
2 minLower the replacement logic board into the chassis, making sure all ribbon cables stay above the board and are not trapped underneath.

Reconnect all internal components
4 minReattach the front and rear cameras, then slide the display, digitizer, and battery flex cables into their sockets and lock their latches.

Reinstall the midframe and back cover
4 minReconnect the fingerprint sensor, screw in the 19 Torx midframe screws, and snap the back cover securely back onto the housing.
