Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Remove the back cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool or fingernail into the notch at the bottom edge of the phone. Gently pry up to unsnap the plastic cover.

Remove the battery
1 minLocate the recess notch near the bottom of the battery. Lift the battery up and out of the phone compartment.

Remove SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card or microSD card from their respective slots above the battery bay.

Unscrew the rear midframe
4 minUse a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the ten T3 screws securing the midframe to the phone chassis.

Detach the midframe
3 minInsert a plastic spudger around the seam of the plastic midframe. Pry around the perimeter until all internal clips release.

Disconnect the display flex cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the main display press-fit connector straight up off the motherboard.

Disconnect the digitizer connector
2 minPry up the touch screen digitizer flex cable connector located near the top corner of the board.

Remove the rear camera
2 minUnplug the rear camera flex cable from the motherboard using tweezers. Lift the camera module out of its recess.

Remove the front camera
2 minDisconnect the front-facing camera connector from the logic board. Carefully lift the front camera out of the housing.

Disconnect the antenna cable
2 minUse precision tweezers to pry the coaxial antenna cable head straight up from its socket near the bottom of the board.

Remove the motherboard retaining screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw holding the top section of the logic board to the frame.

Lift out the logic board
2 minGently lift the top edge of the motherboard up and remove it from the phone frame. Be careful not to snag any flex cables.

Insert the new logic board
3 minSet the replacement logic board into the frame, slanting the bottom in first. Ensure all flex cables remain accessible above the board.
