Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minHold down the Power button on the right edge and select Power Off on the screen.

Disconnect external cables

Locate the rear cover notch
1 minFind the small opening notch at the bottom corner of the back cover.

Pry open the rear cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch and gently twist to pop the corner free.

Unclip the back cover

Lift away the back cover

Lift out the old battery
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the lower notch and leverage the battery out of its well.

Inspect the connector pins
1 minCheck the gold battery contacts on the motherboard frame for dirt, corrosion, or damage.

Clean the battery terminals
2 minDampen a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe the gold contact spring pins.

Prepare the replacement battery
1 minUnpack the new GK40 battery and remove any protective plastic film covering its contact pads.

Insert the new battery
1 minAlign the gold contacts of the new battery with the pins in the top of the compartment and press down.

Snap the rear cover on
2 minAlign the back cover over the phone body and press firmly along all edges until every clip snaps shut.

Perform initial charge cycle
5 minConnect the Micro-USB charger, allow the device to charge to 100%, then turn on the power.
