Step-by-step

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left side of the frame. Push firmly to pop the tray out and remove it.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply a heat gun or heated iOpener around the outer edges of the rear panel for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice the back cover adhesive
4 minInsert a thin opening pick under the bottom edge of the back panel. Slide the pick around the perimeter to sever the adhesive bonds.

Remove the back cover

Unscrew the midframe shield
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 13 screws securing the upper midframe cover.

Remove motherboard retaining screws
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips screw holding the upper section of the motherboard to the housing.

Extract the logic board
2 minCarefully pry under the logic board edges with a plastic tool and lift it out of the frame chassis.

Apply liquid flux to board joints
2 minInspect the targeted component under magnification and apply a small drop of soldering flux to the contacts.

Reflow target solder joints
6 minApply the heated soldering iron and desoldering braid to re-seat the component or clean excess solder bridges.

Reinstall the logic board
