Step-by-step

Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to shut down the device completely.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the tray hole on the left edge and push to eject the tray.

Heat the back cover edges
2 minApply heat to the rear cover perimeter for two minutes using a heat gun to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower portion of the back cover and pull upward gently to open a gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic prying tool into the gap created between the rear cover and the frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around all four edges of the back panel to detach the adhesive.

Lift off the back cover
1 minGently lift the back cover away from the chassis and set it aside.

Unscrew the upper motherboard bracket
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws holding the top protective plastic bracket in place.

Detach the motherboard bracket
2 minPry up the edge of the plastic motherboard bracket using a spudger and remove it.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to snap the battery press connector up and off the motherboard.

Disconnect the front camera flex connector
1 minPry the front-facing camera flex cable straight up from its motherboard socket using a spudger.

Remove the faulty front camera
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the front camera module out of its plastic housing frame.

Set the new front camera in place
2 minLower the replacement front camera module straight into the housing slot until properly aligned.

Connect the front camera cable
1 minPress the camera flex connector firmly onto the motherboard socket until it clicks into place.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minAlign and press down on the battery connector to restore power connection to the board.

Reinstall the motherboard bracket
3 minPosition the plastic upper shield over the board and secure it with the Phillips #00 screws.

Apply fresh back panel adhesive
3 minPlace narrow double-sided adhesive strips along the perimeter frame of the phone body.

Press the back cover into place
2 minAlign the back cover over the frame and press firmly around all edges to secure the seal.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the device until flush.
