Step-by-step

Power off the Motorola Moto G30
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right edge. Tap Power Off on the screen and wait for the device to shut down completely.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole next to the SIM tray on the left side. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat the lower rear panel
2 minApply heat to the edges of the back cover using a heat gun or hair dryer for two minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach a suction cup to the back cover

Insert an opening pick under the seam
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup while pushing a thin opening pick into the gap between the rear cover and the frame.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around all four edges of the back cover to slice through the adhesive seal.

Slightly lift the rear cover
1 minGently lift the back cover off the chassis starting from the bottom, being careful not to strain the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor press-connector straight off the motherboard.

Remove the rear cover
1 minSet the rear cover completely aside once the fingerprint ribbon cable is disconnected.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the bottom speaker module.

Pry up the speaker housing
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the speaker housing edge and lift it out of the phone frame.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse the edge of a spudger to disconnect the main display/interconnect ribbon cable from the sub-board.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cable
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently pry the white antenna coaxial connector straight up from the bottom left corner of the sub-board.

Remove the sub-board screw
1 minLocate and remove the single Phillips screw securing the sub-board to the plastic frame.

Pry out the original charging port sub-board
2 minWedge the spudger beneath the sub-board near the USB-C port and gently lever it out from the housing.

Set the replacement charging port board into position
2 minAlign the new sub-board into the bottom well, ensuring the USB Type-C port sits flush inside the frame opening.

Reinstall the sub-board securing screw
1 minDrive the single Phillips screw back into place to fix the charging sub-board securely to the frame.

Reconnect the antenna cable
2 minAlign the head of the coaxial antenna cable over its socket on the sub-board and press straight down until it snaps into place.

Apply fresh rear adhesive
3 minPeel and place double-sided adhesive strips along the inner rim of the phone housing.

Seal the rear cover
2 minAlign the back cover over the frame and press down firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive.

Reinsert the SIM card tray
