Step-by-step

Power off the Moto G24
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM tray on the left frame. Press firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it out of the device.

Heat the rear cover edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to heat the outer perimeter of the back cover for 2 minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the back cover to the frame.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the rear panel, near the bottom edge. Pull upward on the suction ring to create a slight gap between the cover and the chassis.

Insert a plastic opening pick
2 minInsert the tip of a plastic opening pick into the gap created under the bottom edge of the back panel. Carefully slide it along the seam to slice through the adhesive seal.

Unclip the rear panel
2 minSlide the pick around the left and right side edges of the phone. Apply gentle upward pressure to release the plastic clips locking the rear panel in place.

Remove the rear cover
1 minLift the rear cover completely off the phone body and place it face down on a clean surface.

Unscrew the motherboard bracket
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic motherboard shield at the top of the device.

Remove the motherboard bracket
1 minInsert the point of a spudger under the edge of the motherboard shield and lift it away from the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex cable connector straight up off the motherboard connector.

Unscrew the loudspeaker module
2 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom speaker enclosure to the sub-board frame.

Remove the loudspeaker module
1 minGently pry up the speaker module using a spudger and remove it from the bottom of the device.

Disconnect the main interconnect flex cable
2 minPry up the press connectors on both ends of the main interconnect flex cable spanning over the battery. Lift and set the flex cable aside.

Apply isopropyl alcohol around the battery
2 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the left and right edges of the battery well to weaken the adhesive underneath.

Pry up the battery
3 minInsert a plastic card or flat spudger under the bottom edge of the battery and slowly lever it upward. Never use metal tools or apply sharp force that could puncture the battery.

Remove the old battery
1 minLift the old battery out of the frame and place it safely in a fire-proof container for disposal.

Clean the battery well
2 minWipe away residual adhesive and dirt from the battery tray using a lint-free cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

Install new battery adhesive strips
2 minPeel the protective film off the new adhesive strips and press them firmly into place inside the battery recess.

Seat the new battery
1 minRemove the top film from the adhesive strips, lower the new battery into place, and press down evenly for several seconds.

Reconnect the interconnect flex cable
2 minAlign and press the interconnect flex cable connectors onto the motherboard and sub-board until they click securely into place.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minAlign the battery flex cable connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly to connect it.

Reinstall the loudspeaker module
2 minPosition the loudspeaker module over the lower sub-board and tighten its Phillips #00 screws.

Reinstall the motherboard bracket
2 minPlace the top plastic motherboard shield back onto the upper frame and secure it using the original Phillips screws.

Reattach the rear cover
2 minAlign the rear panel over the phone frame and press firmly along all edges until all internal clips snap shut.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minPush the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until it sits flush with the casing.
