Step-by-step

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray and slide it out.

Heat the rear cover edges
2 minApply heat to the edges of the rear panel using a heat gun for two minutes to soften the underlying adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear panel near the bottom edge.

Create an opening gap
1 minPull up on the suction cup handle to create a small seam between the back cover and the midframe.

Insert an opening pick
1 minSlide a plastic opening pick directly into the gap created by the suction cup.

Slice the edge adhesive
3 minSlide the plastic pick carefully along the bottom and side edges of the phone to cut through the adhesive perimeter.

Slice the top edge adhesive
2 minGuide the pick across the top edge to free the remaining perimeter adhesive. Do not lift the back cover off completely yet.

Open the back cover partially
1 minGently pivot the rear panel open from the right edge like a book, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor cable.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable
1 minUse a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Unscrew the speaker housing
2 minRemove the six Phillips #00 screws securing the lower loudspeaker cover to the sub-board area.

Remove the loudspeaker housing
1 minInsert a spudger beneath the loudspeaker assembly edge and lift it out of the phone frame.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minPry the battery press connector off the main motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power to the device.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse a spudger to disconnect the main interconnect ribbon cable from the bottom daughterboard.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift the head of the coaxial antenna cable straight off its connector on the sub-board.

Remove the daughterboard screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw fastening the charging port daughterboard to the frame.

Remove the old charging daughterboard
1 minPry up the daughterboard gently with a flat spudger and lift it out of the housing.

Set the new charging daughterboard
1 minPosition the new charging port board into the lower frame cutout and press it down until seated evenly.

Secure the new daughterboard screw
1 minReinstall the Phillips #00 screw to hold the new charging port daughterboard firmly in place.

Reconnect the antenna cable
1 minAlign the coaxial antenna cable head over the board socket and press down gently until it snaps into place.

1 minAlign the main interconnect cable over the daughterboard socket and press firmly to attach it.

1 minAlign and press down the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector onto the motherboard socket.

Apply rear cover adhesive
2 minApply fresh pre-cut adhesive strips or a thin bead of B-7000 adhesive around the perimeter frame of the phone.

Seal the rear cover
1 minAlign the back cover over the frame and press firmly around all edges to secure the seal.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into the left slot until it fits flush against the side frame.
