Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM ejection pin into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Press inward firmly to release the tray and pull it out.

Heat the rear cover
3 minApply a hot air gun or heated iOpener along the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Slice the back cover adhesive
5 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the back cover and the midframe. Slide it along the perimeter to slice through the adhesive.

Remove the rear panel

Unscrew the motherboard bracket
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the upper motherboard protective cover.

1 minPry up the display flex cable connector from the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the sub-board interconnect cable
1 minLever the main interconnect flex connector up and away from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cables
2 minGently pry the antenna connectors straight up off their surface-mount sockets on the logic board using precision tweezers.

Disconnect and remove the cameras
3 minUnplug the front-facing and rear camera press connectors. Carefully lift the camera modules out of the frame housing.

Remove the logic board retaining screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips screw anchoring the logic board to the internal chassis.

Pry out the logic board
2 minSlide a plastic spudger underneath the lower edge of the logic board and gently lift it up out of the phone body.
