Step-by-step

Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole next to the SIM tray. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then slide it out completely.

Heat the rear cover
2 minApply heat from a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the factory adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear panel, near the charging port edge.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a subtle gap between the back cover and frame, then insert a plastic opening pick into the gap.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the remaining adhesive.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear panel away from the frame entirely and place it safely off to the side.

Unscrew the loudspeaker screws
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the lower loudspeaker housing.

Remove the loudspeaker module
1 minInsert a flat spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and gently lever it up and out of the phone.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex cable connector straight up from its motherboard socket to disconnect power.

Disconnect the sub-board flex cable
1 minPry up the lower end of the main interconnect flex cable from the charging port sub-board using a spudger.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minGently pry up the coaxial antenna cable head from the sub-board using fine tweezers.

Pry up the sub-board
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the damaged charging sub-board and lift it away from the chassis.

Install the new sub-board
2 minPosition the new charging port sub-board into the bottom chassis compartment and press it down until seated flush.

Reconnect the antenna cable
1 minAlign the coaxial antenna connector over its board socket and press down lightly with tweezers until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the sub-board flex cable
1 minPress the lower press connector of the interconnect flex cable onto the sub-board socket until it clicks.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minAlign the battery flex connector over its motherboard socket and press firmly down to lock it.

1 minPlace the loudspeaker assembly back into position over the charging sub-board.

Fasten the loudspeaker screws

Apply new rear adhesive
