Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minTurn off the phone completely before starting the repair.

Remove back cover
1 minPry off the plastic back cover using a plastic opening tool at the micro-USB port notch.

Remove SIM and SD cards
1 minEject any installed SIM cards and micro SD cards from their respective slots.

Unscrew frame fasteners
3 minRemove the 14 Torx T3 screws securing the rear midframe to the inner chassis.

Unclip the midframe
2 minInsert a plastic spudger into the seam along the edge to disengage the plastic perimeter clips.

Remove the midframe
1 minLift the rear midframe up and off the inner housing assembly.

Disconnect the battery
1 minUse a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery connector off the motherboard header.

Locate power button cable
1 minFind the power button flex cable assembly attached to the upper right side of the logic board.

Unlock ZIF connector
1 minUse fine tweezers to carefully flip up the small black locking flap on the power button ZIF socket.

Remove power button flex
2 minGently pull the ribbon cable out of its socket and peel the flexible button strip off the frame.

Install new power button
2 minAlign the replacement power button flex cable in the side housing recess and press it down firmly.

Secure power button cable
1 minSlide the flex ribbon into the ZIF socket and lock the retaining flap back down into place.

Reconnect the battery
1 minPress the battery flex cable connector back down onto the motherboard socket until it clicks.

Snap midframe into place
2 minAlign the rear midframe over the body and press around the perimeter until all internal clips snap shut.

Reinstall frame screws
3 minInsert and tighten the 14 Torx T3 screws evenly across the midframe.

Reattach back cover
1 minPress the outer back cover firmly onto the device until it snaps flush with the housing.
