Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button until the options menu appears, then tap Power Off.

Remove the rear cover
1 minInsert a fingernail or plastic opening tool into the bottom notch to pry off the snap-on back cover.

Eject the SIM and SD cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM cards and MicroSD card from their respective slots.

Unscrew the rear inner frame
4 minUse a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the 14 screws securing the perimeter of the inner plastic frame.

Unclip the inner chassis
2 minInsert a plastic spudger along the edge seam to release the plastic clips and lift away the inner chassis.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pry up the battery connector from the motherboard.

Unscrew the lower assembly
2 minRemove the Torx T3 screw holding the bottom speaker and microphone daughterboard in place.

Remove the bottom speaker module
2 minLift the bottom speaker enclosure out of the phone frame using tweezers.

Disconnect the bottom flex ribbon
1 minPry up the flex cable connector that connects the lower daughterboard to the main motherboard.

Pry up the microphone daughterboard
2 minGently wedge an opening pick beneath the microphone daughterboard to break the adhesive underneath.

Position the new microphone board
2 minAlign the replacement microphone board into the bottom recess and press lightly to set the adhesive.

Reconnect the bottom flex ribbon
1 minPress the lower daughterboard flex connector firmly into its socket on the motherboard.

Reinstall the bottom speaker module
2 minPlace the speaker housing back into position over the bottom daughterboard and tighten its screw.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minAlign the battery flex connector over its socket and press down until it clicks into place.

Snap the inner chassis back on
2 minAlign the inner chassis over the body and press along the edges until all clips snap closed.

Secure the frame screws
4 minDrive all 14 Torx T3 screws back into the rear housing until snug.

Reattach the rear cover
1 minInsert your SIM and SD cards, then press the back cover firmly onto the phone body until sealed.
