Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to completely turn off the Moto G2.

Remove Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the notch at the bottom edge and lift off the back cover.

Eject Cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM cards and the MicroSD memory card from their respective slots.

Unscrew Rear Midframe
5 minRemove the fourteen T3 Torx screws securing the inner rear frame to the chassis.

Pry Midframe Assembly
3 minInsert a plastic opening tool between the frame and the front assembly to unclip the midframe.

Disconnect Battery Cable
2 minUse a spudger to carefully pop the battery connector straight up from the motherboard socket.

Disconnect Display Flex
2 minGently pry up the display connector lock latch and disconnect the main screen flex cable.

Disconnect Digitizer Flex
2 minFlip open the ZIF connector latch for the touchscreen cable and slide the cable out.

Unplug Rear Camera
2 minUse tweezers to unsnap the rear-facing camera module connector from the logic board.

Unplug Front Camera
2 minDisconnect the front-facing camera cable from its socket on the top edge of the board.

Remove Board Screws
2 minUnscrew the single Phillips #00 screw securing the bottom section of the logic board.

Lift Logic Board
3 minCarefully pry up the top edge of the motherboard and lift it clear of the display frame.

Position New Board
3 minLower the replacement logic board into the front housing frame, aligning top ports first.

Fasten Board Screw
2 minReinstall the Phillips #00 screw to anchor the lower portion of the replacement logic board.

Reconnect Cameras and Displays
4 minAttach the front camera, rear camera, display flex, and digitizer flex cables to their sockets.

Reconnect Battery
1 minPress the battery connector firmly into its socket until it clicks into place.

Reassemble Rear Midframe
5 minAlign the midframe over the body, snap the edges together, and tighten all fourteen T3 Torx screws.
