Step-by-step

Pry off outer back cover
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the notch at the bottom of the phone and lift off the rear shell.

Remove SIM and SD cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM cards and MicroSD card from their respective slots.

Unscrew midframe
5 minUse a Torx T5 screwdriver to remove the 14 screws securing the inner rear frame.

Unsnap inner frame
3 minRun a spudger along the outer perimeter of the inner frame to release the plastic clips.

Remove inner frame
1 minLift the inner rear frame off the phone assembly and set it aside.

Disconnect battery cable
2 minUse a spudger to gently pry the battery connector off its socket on the motherboard.

Disconnect display flex cable

Position new charging port
3 minAlign the pins of the replacement micro-USB port exactly onto the motherboard contact pads.

Solder port anchor legs
5 minMelt fresh solder onto the four outer mounting legs to secure the port to the board.

Solder rear contact pins
