Step-by-step

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the tray on the left edge. Press firmly to pop the tray out and remove it.

Heat the rear cover
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer evenly along the edges of the back panel for about two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear panel and pull upward firmly to create a small seam.

Slice the edge adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it carefully along the perimeter to slice through the adhesive.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear panel off the frame carefully and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the upper motherboard shield
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all securing screws from the plastic upper motherboard frame.

Detach the motherboard shield
2 minInsert a plastic spudger beneath the edge of the upper shield and pry upward to unhook it from the chassis.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket to cut power.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cable
1 minPry up the main interconnect ribbon cable connector that links the motherboard to the lower sub-board.

Disconnect the display cable
1 minUnplug the display flex cable press-connector from the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the front camera
1 minGently unclip the front-facing camera ribbon cable connector from the top edge of the board.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cables
2 minUse precision tweezers to pry up the metal antenna cable heads straight off their press-fit motherboard terminals.

Remove the logic board screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips screw anchoring the logic board to the inner aluminum frame.

Pry up and remove the logic board
2 minGently lever a plastic spudger under the bottom edge of the board and lift the logic board out of the phone.
