Step-by-step

Power off phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap 'Power off' on the screen.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left side of the frame to remove the tray.

Heat back cover
2 minApply a heat gun or heated pad to the edges of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice back adhesive
4 minInsert an opening pick under the edge of the back panel and slide it along the perimeter.

Remove back cover
1 minLift the rear plastic cover away from the phone body and set it aside.

Unscrew midframe
3 minRemove all Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe to the chassis.

Remove midframe panel
2 minPry around the edges of the plastic midframe using a spudger to unclip and remove it.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry up and disconnect the battery press connector from the motherboard.

Apply adhesive remover
2 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery.

Pry up battery
4 minInsert a flat opening card beneath the battery and gently lever it up to break the remaining adhesive.

Remove old battery
1 minLift the battery out of the phone frame completely.

Clean battery housing
2 minClear out residual adhesive strips and clean the recessed well using isopropyl alcohol and a cloth.

Apply battery adhesive
2 minLay fresh double-sided adhesive strips into the battery compartment.

Install new battery
2 minSet the replacement battery into the frame, pressing down lightly to secure it to the adhesive.

Reconnect battery cable
1 minAlign and press the battery connector straight down onto the motherboard socket until it clicks.

Reinstall midframe panel
2 minPosition the midframe cover over the phone and press down until the plastic tabs snap into place.

Secure midframe screws
3 minReinsert and tighten all Phillips #00 screws into the midframe.

Reattach back cover
3 minApply back cover adhesive along the edges and press the rear cover firmly back onto the chassis.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minPush the SIM card tray back into its slot on the left frame until it sits flush.
