   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left side of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray and remove it completely.

   Heat the back panel

   Apply a heat gun or hairdryer along the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Attach suction cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower third of the back cover and pull upward gently to create a small gap.

   Insert opening pick

   Slide an opening pick into the gap between the plastic back cover and the midframe chassis.

   Slice back cover adhesive

   Slide the pick around all four edges of the phone to cut through the perimeter tape.

   Open back cover carefully

   Pivot the back cover open toward the right edge like a book. Do not pull it away completely yet.

   Unscrew fingerprint cable bracket

   Remove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the metal bracket over the fingerprint sensor connector.

   Disconnect fingerprint sensor

   Pry the fingerprint sensor flex cable straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

   Remove rear cover

   Lift the rear cover free from the chassis and place it in a safe location.

    Unscrew midframe fasteners

    Remove all 16 Phillips #00 screws securing the upper motherboard cover and bottom speaker module.

    Pry off upper motherboard cover

    Insert a spudger under the edge of the upper plastic cover and lift it off the motherboard.

    Remove lower loudspeaker assembly

    Pry up the lower speaker housing from the bottom frame edge and set it aside.

    Disconnect battery cable

    Use a spudger to pry the battery flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

    Disconnect display flex cable

    Unplug the display flex connector located on the lower left region of the motherboard.

    Heat screen assembly

    Warm the front glass edges with a heat gun for 3 minutes to loosen the screen adhesive.

    Attach suction cup to glass

    Press a suction cup onto the upper section of the front display.

    Insert pick under display glass

    Pull up on the suction cup and insert a thin opening pick into the seam between the glass and screen bezel.

    Separate screen adhesive

    Slide the pick around the entire perimeter of the screen to cut the adhesive securing the display.

    Remove damaged screen

    Feed the screen flex cable out through the slot in the midframe and lift the display off the phone.

    Clean frame border

    Scrape off residual glue from the inner frame and wipe the surfaces clean using 99% isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply new screen adhesive

    Apply pre-cut screen adhesive tape onto the perimeter ledges of the cleaned inner frame.

    Thread replacement screen cable

    Pass the main flex cable of the new display panel through the frame slot.

    Press new screen into frame

    Align the screen with the frame borders and press down gently around all edges to bond the adhesive.

    Connect display cable

    Press the display flex cable firmly onto its socket on the mainboard until it snaps into place.

    Reconnect battery flex cable

    Snap the battery press connector back onto its socket on the motherboard.

    Reinstall frame covers and screws

    Position the top motherboard shield and lower speaker module, then reinsert and tighten all 16 Phillips screws.

    Reconnect fingerprint sensor and seal back cover

    Attach the fingerprint cable, secure its metal bracket, apply back cover adhesive, and press the rear panel closed.
