Step-by-step

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the card slot on the left edge of the device. Press firmly to pop the tray out and remove it.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply mild heat from a heat gun around the outer edges of the rear cover for 2 minutes to soften the internal perimeter adhesive.

Pry open the back cover
3 minAttach a suction cup to the lower back panel and pull up slightly to create a gap. Insert a plastic opening pick between the rear cover and the frame.

Separate the back cover
4 minSlide the plastic pick around all sides of the phone to disengage the plastic clips. Carefully lift the cover off, being mindful of the attached fingerprint sensor cable.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minUse a spudger to gently pop the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector straight up from the motherboard.

Unscrew the upper motherboard shield
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all the screws holding the plastic upper motherboard shield in place.

Remove the motherboard shield
2 minPry up the edges of the plastic motherboard cover with a spudger and remove it from the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector directly up off its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger to cut power to the device.

Disconnect the display flex cable
2 minUse the edge of your spudger to disconnect the main display press connector from the logic board.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cable
2 minPry up the sub-board interconnect ribbon cable connector located on the lower section of the logic board.

Unplug the coaxial antenna cable
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the antenna cable head off its socket on the right side of the logic board.

Disconnect the front camera
2 minUnplug the front-facing selfie camera flex connector from the motherboard socket.

Remove the motherboard securing screw
2 minUnscrew the single Phillips #00 screw securing the logic board directly to the internal chassis frame.

Lift out the logic board
3 minGently pry up the bottom edge of the logic board with a spudger and lift it out of the phone body.

Transfer the camera modules
4 minCarefully disconnect and transfer the rear camera assembly from the old board to the replacement logic board.
