Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely turn off the phone.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole next to the tray. Push firmly to pop out the SIM card holder and set it aside.

Heat rear cover
2 minUse a heat gun on low setting to warm the outer edges of the back panel for about 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge and pull up gently. Insert a plastic opening pick under the seam and slide it along the perimeter.

Lift off rear cover
2 minCarefully tilt up the back cover. Disconnect the fingerprint flex cable if connected before completely removing the rear panel.

Unscrew upper motherboard frame
3 minUse a Phillips #000 precision screwdriver to remove all screws securing the top plastic bracket.

2 minUse tweezers to lift out the internal metal securing bracket holding the physical key in place.

Install replacement power button flex
3 minPosition the new power button flex assembly into the side frame slot and press firmly to seat the adhesive backing.

Reinstall metal button clip
2 minPlace the metal retaining bracket back over the internal power button mechanism and press until it snaps into place.

Connect power button ribbon
2 minAlign the power button flex connector over its motherboard socket and press down until you hear a soft click.

Reconnect battery press connector
1 minPress the battery cable terminal straight down onto the motherboard socket until it locks.

Reattach motherboard cover
3 minPlace the plastic upper frame cover over the motherboard and tighten all saved Phillips #000 screws.

3 minClean remaining old glue from the phone frame with isopropyl alcohol, then stick down fresh pre-cut rear adhesive strips.

Seal back cover
2 minAlign the rear panel on the phone and press down evenly around all edges to secure the seal.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until flush with the body.
