Step-by-step

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left side of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray and remove it completely.

Heat the rear cover edges
2 minApply mild heat around the perimeter of the rear cover using a heat gun for approximately 1–2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover, lift slightly, and insert a plastic opening pick into the seam.

Slice perimeter adhesive clips
3 minSlide the plastic pick around all four edges of the back cover to release the plastic retainers and adhesive.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear cover away from the main phone frame and set it aside safely.

Unscrew the motherboard shield
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the upper motherboard bracket.

Detach the motherboard shield
1 minGently lift and remove the upper plastic motherboard shield from the phone.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Disconnect the power button flex
1 minLocate the power button flex connector on the side of the motherboard and detach it using a spudger.

Warm the power button flex adhesive
2 minBriefly apply targeted low heat to the outer right edge of the frame to soften the adhesive holding the power button flex cable.

Pry up the old power button flex
2 minCarefully slide thin tweezers under the power button flex cable inside the housing and peel it away from the frame.

Inspect and clean the button slot
2 minCheck the power button metal bracket and physical key inside the frame slot, clearing away any remaining adhesive or dirt.

Install the new power button flex
2 minPeel off any protective backing from the new power button flex cable and adhere it precisely into the frame recess.

Plug in the power button flex
1 minAlign the power button flex connector over its socket on the motherboard and press down until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minAlign the battery flex connector with the motherboard socket and press firmly down to reconnect power.

Position the motherboard shield
1 minPlace the upper motherboard shield back over the top section of the phone frame.

Fasten the motherboard shield
2 minReinstall and tighten all Phillips #000 screws to secure the motherboard shield.

Snap the rear cover into place
2 minAlign the back cover with the frame and press firmly along all edges until every plastic clip snaps securely shut.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minAlign the SIM tray with its slot and push it flush into the side of the device.
