   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

   Remove the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left edge of the phone and press firmly to pop out the tray.

   Heat the back cover

   Apply a heated pad or heat gun around the edges of the back panel for about two minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Press a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear panel and gently pull up to create a small gap.

   Insert an opening pick

   Slide the tip of a plastic opening pick into the gap between the rear cover and the frame.

   Slice the perimeter adhesive

   Slide the pick carefully along all four sides of the phone to cut through the glue securing the back cover.

   Gently lift the back cover

   Hinge the back cover open toward the right side, being careful not to stretch the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

   Use a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex connector straight off the motherboard socket.

   Set aside the back panel

   Lift the rear cover away from the device and place it on a clean work surface.

    Unscrew the motherboard bracket

    Remove the Phillips #00 screws holding down the upper plastic motherboard shield.

    Use tweezers or a spudger to unhook and lift the plastic bracket off the frame.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery connector directly up from its socket on the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

    Unplug the main ribbon cable spanning over the battery to prevent damaging it during removal.

    Softend the battery adhesive

    Apply a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery well to weaken the adhesive underneath.

    Unfold the adhesive pull tabs

    Locate the clear plastic release tabs at the edge of the battery and peel them back.

    Pull the adhesive strips

    Slowly pull the adhesive tabs at a flat, low angle away from the phone until the strips stretch out completely.

    Pry out the battery

    Insert a flat plastic card under the battery edge and gently pry it out of the chassis.

    Clean the battery recess

    Wipe away leftover adhesive residue inside the battery compartment using a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.

    Prepare the replacement battery

    Attach fresh pre-cut adhesive strips to the back of the new battery and remove the protective film.

    Install the new battery

    Align the battery in the housing recess and press down firmly to secure it with the new adhesive.

    Reconnect the interconnect cable

    Snap the main ribbon cable back onto its sockets on both the motherboard and sub-board.

    Attach the battery cable

    Align the battery flex connector over its motherboard terminal and press gently until it clicks into place.

    Position the motherboard cover

    Set the plastic upper shield back over the motherboard and line up the screw holes.

    Secure the motherboard bracket

    Reinstall and tighten the Phillips #00 screws to hold the upper bracket in place.

    Connect the fingerprint flex cable

    Hold the back cover near the phone and press the fingerprint sensor cable back onto its connector.

    Apply new cover adhesive

    Lay down fresh double-sided adhesive strip around the perimeter of the phone housing.

    Reattach the back cover

    Align the back panel with the frame and press firmly along all sides to seal the adhesive.
