Step-by-step

Power Down Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut off before beginning.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Remove Embedded Stylus
1 minPress the stylus top to unlock it from the bottom right corner of the frame. Slide the stylus out completely and set it aside.

Heat the Back Cover
2 minApply a heat gun set to low heat around all edges of the rear cover for 2 minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the back panel.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear panel, just above the bottom edge. Press firmly down to secure a strong grip.

Create an Entry Gap
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup while pressing down on the frame to create a tiny gap. Insert a thin opening pick into the gap.

Slice Edge Adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick slowly along the bottom and sides of the phone. Carefully cut through the adhesive around the perimeter.

Slice Top Adhesive
2 minGuide the pick around the top corners of the back cover. Do not push the pick deeper than 3mm to avoid damaging internal ribbon cables.

Slightly Pivot Back Cover
1 minGently lift the right edge of the back panel like a book cover. Do not remove it completely yet, as the fingerprint sensor cable remains attached.

Unscrew Sensor Bracket
1 minLocate the metal protective bracket over the fingerprint reader connector. Remove the single Phillips #00 screw securing it.

Remove Sensor Bracket
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift the metal shield off the motherboard connector. Store the small bracket safely.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor flex cable straight up from its connector.

Remove Back Cover
1 minLift the rear cover completely away from the phone chassis. Place it aside on a clean, dust-free surface.

Unscrew Speaker Module
2 minRemove the seven Phillips #00 screws holding down the lower speaker assembly at the bottom of the device.

Remove Speaker Module
2 minInsert a spudger under the top lip of the speaker housing. Carefully pry it up and lift it out of the frame.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minLocate the main battery flex cable on the motherboard. Pry it straight up with a spudger to cut power while working.

Disconnect Daughterboard Flex
1 minUse a spudger to pop the main interconnect flex cable off the charging port sub-board at the bottom.

Disconnect Antenna Cables
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently unsnap the white and black coaxial antenna cables from their press-fit connectors on the board.

Remove Sub-Board Screws
1 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws securing the charging port daughterboard to the lower aluminum frame.

Pry Out Damaged Board
2 minInsert a flat plastic tool beneath the edge of the daughterboard. Pry gently to break light underlying adhesive and lift the board free.

Position Replacement Board
2 minAlign the new USB-C charging port sub-board over the bottom frame recess. Press it down flat into place.

Secure Sub-Board Screws
1 minReinstall and tighten the two Phillips #00 screws to hold the replacement charging board firmly against the frame.

Reconnect Antenna Cables
2 minAlign the coaxial antenna heads over their board sockets. Press straight down until they click securely into place.

Attach Interconnect Cable
1 minAlign the main interconnect flex cable over the daughterboard connector. Press down on the plug until it clicks shut.

Reconnect Battery Cable
1 minPress the battery flex connector straight down onto its motherboard socket until it firmly snaps in place.

Reinstall Speaker Assembly
2 minSet the lower speaker module back into position over the daughterboard. Insert and tighten the seven Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minHold the back cover close to the frame and snap the fingerprint sensor flex cable into its board socket. Reinstall the bracket and screw.

Seal Rear Cover
2 minApply pre-cut adhesive strips along the phone's border. Align the back cover onto the chassis and press firmly around all edges.
