   Power off the device

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before starting.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole next to the SIM tray. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then remove it completely.

   Heat the back cover edges

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the rear cover edges for 2 minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the rear glass/plastic panel.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear panel. Press down firmly to create a seal against the surface.

   Insert an opening pick

   Pull up on the suction cup to create a slight gap at the bottom edge. Insert a thin opening pick into the gap.

   Slice through perimeter adhesive

   Slide the opening pick slowly around all four edges of the back panel. Reheat the cover if you feel significant resistance.

   Lift the rear cover slightly

   Gently lift the right side of the back cover like a book cover. Do not lift it completely off yet, as the fingerprint cable is still connected.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

   Use a plastic spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor flex connector straight up from the motherboard. Remove the back cover.

   Unscrew the upper motherboard cover

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the upper plastic protective frame.

    Remove the upper motherboard frame

    Insert the pointed end of a spudger under the motherboard frame edge. Gently pry up and detach the cover from the chassis.

    Disconnect the battery flex cable

    Pry the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger. Never use metal tools near the battery terminal.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol around the battery

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and side edges of the battery. Wait 2 minutes for the adhesive to dissolve.

    Locate and peel battery pull tabs

    Locate the clear adhesive pull tabs along the edges of the battery. Use tweezers to unstick the tab ends from the battery casing.

    Pull the adhesive tabs

    Pull the adhesive strips out slowly at a low angle relative to the phone frame. Stretch them out continuously until they release.

    Pry out the battery

    Insert a plastic card or flat spudger underneath the battery from the side. Gently lift to free the battery from remaining adhesive.

    Remove old adhesive remnants

    Scrape away any leftover adhesive strips inside the battery compartment using a plastic opening tool. Clean the housing with isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Peel the protective backing from new pre-cut battery adhesive strips. Apply them flat onto the recessed battery bay.

    Install the new battery

    Remove the remaining protective film from the adhesive strips. Press the new battery firmly into the housing, aligning the flex cable.

    Connect the battery flex cable

    Align the press connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

    Reinstall the upper motherboard cover

    Set the upper frame cover back into position over the motherboard. Reinstall and tighten all Phillips #00 screws.

    Reconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

    Position the back cover near the housing and press the fingerprint sensor flex connector onto its motherboard socket.

    Reattach the rear cover

    Apply fresh back cover adhesive around the perimeter frame. Press the back cover firmly onto the body to seal the adhesive.
