Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to safely shut down the phone.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the tray hole on the left side of the phone and pull the tray out.

Heat the back cover edges
3 minUse a heat gun or heated pad on the edges of the back cover for 2-3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice through the rear adhesive
4 minApply a suction cup to the lower back panel and slide a plastic opening pick under the edge to cut the adhesive.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable
2 minLift the rear cover slightly and use a spudger to detach the fingerprint sensor flex cable from the motherboard.

Unscrew the loudspeaker cover
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the lower loudspeaker assembly.

Remove the old loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker housing and pry it up out of the chassis.

Install the new loudspeaker assembly
2 minPlace the replacement speaker module into the lower frame cutout and press gently until it sits flush.

Fasten the loudspeaker screws
3 minReinstall the seven Phillips #00 screws to secure the new loudspeaker cover in place.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor flex
2 minAlign the fingerprint ribbon cable connector over its socket on the motherboard and press down until it clicks.

Apply new back cover adhesive
4 minClean the old adhesive residue with isopropyl alcohol, then lay down fresh pre-cut double-sided tape along the perimeter.

Reattach the back cover
2 minAlign the rear panel with the frame and press firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minPush the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the device until it snaps flush.
