Step-by-step

Remove the Stylus
1 minPress the stylus spring button at the bottom of the phone to eject it, then pull it completely out.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone to pop out the SIM tray.

Heat the Back Cover
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the rear glass perimeter for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull upward to create a small gap.

Insert an Opening Pick
1 minSlide a thin opening pick into the gap created beneath the rear panel.

Slice the Adhesive Perimeter
3 minSlide the pick carefully around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the perimeter glue.

Lift Off the Back Cover
1 minSeparate the back cover from the phone chassis and set it aside.

Unscrew Lower Loudspeaker Housing
2 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic lower speaker cover to the frame.

Pry Up Speaker Assembly
1 minInsert a spudger under the notch of the loudspeaker housing and pop it out from the bottom frame.

Disconnect Interconnect Flex Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the main display/board interconnect flex cable straight up from the daughterboard.

Disconnect Coaxial Antenna Cable
1 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the antenna cable head straight off its snap connector on the daughterboard.

Remove Old Daughterboard
2 minPry the sub-board containing the integrated primary microphone up out of the lower chassis cavity.

Install New Daughterboard
1 minPosition the new daughterboard with microphone into the bottom frame slot and press it down gently.

Attach Antenna and Flex Cables
2 minSnap the coaxial antenna cable and main interconnect flex cable onto their respective daughterboard connectors.

Reinstall Loudspeaker Assembly
1 minSet the lower speaker housing over the daughterboard and press down until it snaps in place.

Secure Loudspeaker Screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the Phillips #00 screws into the loudspeaker cover.

Apply New Back Cover Adhesive
3 minClean remaining glue with isopropyl alcohol and apply pre-cut adhesive strips along the frame perimeter.

Seal Back Cover and Reinsert Tray
2 minAlign the back cover, press firmly around the edges to seal, and reinsert the SIM tray and stylus.
