   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push inward firmly to eject the tray, then remove it.

   Heat the rear cover

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to warm the outer edges of the rear cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Apply the suction cup

   Press a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear cover and pull upward gently to create a small gap.

   Unclip the back cover

   Insert an opening pick into the gap and slide it along the edges to release the internal plastic retaining clips.

   Lift the back cover carefully

   Gently hinge the rear cover open to the right. Do not remove it completely yet, as the fingerprint sensor cable remains attached.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

   Use the pointed end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex cable connector straight off the motherboard.

   Remove motherboard shield screws

   Unscrew the Phillips #000 screws securing the upper plastic motherboard cover.

   Detach the motherboard shield

   Use tweezers to lift the plastic motherboard shield out of the frame and set it aside.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Pry the battery flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

    Remove speaker assembly screws

    Remove the Phillips #000 screws holding the lower speaker module to the chassis.

    Remove the speaker module

    Insert a spudger under the lower speaker housing and pry it up from the phone body.

    Unseat adhesive pull tabs

    Locate and peel back the clear adhesive pull tab edges sitting on top of the battery.

    Pull the adhesive strips

    Pull the stretch-release adhesive strips out slowly at a low angle until completely removed from underneath the battery.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol if stuck

    If a strip snaps, drop a few drops of isopropyl alcohol along the edge of the battery and wait two minutes for it to loosen the glue.

    Pry the battery free

    Insert a flat plastic spudger beneath the battery and gently lever it up from the frame.

    Clean the battery recess

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery compartment using isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth.

    Apply new adhesive strips

    Place new double-sided battery adhesive strips into the empty battery well.

    Install the replacement battery

    Position the new battery in the well and press down firmly to secure it against the adhesive.

    Reconnect the battery cable

    Align the battery flex connector over its socket on the motherboard and press down until it snaps into place.

    Reinstall the speaker module

    Lower the speaker assembly back into the chassis and secure it with the Phillips #000 screws.

    Secure the motherboard shield

    Place the upper motherboard shield in position and reinsert its retaining screws.

    Reconnect the fingerprint sensor

    Press the fingerprint reader flex cable connector onto its motherboard socket.

    Snap the back cover closed

    Align the rear cover with the phone body and press firmly along all edges to snap the plastic clips into place.

    Reinsert the SIM tray

    Slide the SIM card tray back into the slot until it sits flush against the outer frame.
