   Remove the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left edge of the phone. Push inward firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

   Heat the back cover edges

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun along the outer edges of the back panel for two minutes to soften the underlying adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Pull upward gently to create a small gap between the panel and the frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup at the bottom of the device.

   Slice the perimeter adhesive

   Slide the opening pick around all four edges of the phone to cut through the adhesive tape securing the back cover.

   Remove the back cover

   Lift the plastic back cover off the chassis and set it aside in a safe area.

   Unscrew the lower speaker housing

   Use a Phillips PH00 screwdriver to remove the six screws holding down the bottom speaker plastic bracket.

   Pry off the speaker assembly

   Insert the flat end of a spudger under the speaker housing edge and gently lever it up to unclip it from the frame.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Use a plastic spudger to pop the battery flex connector off the motherboard to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

    Disconnect the interconnect cable

    Pry the bottom end of the main ribbon cable straight up from its press-fit socket on the microphone sub-board.

    Disconnect the antenna cable

    Use fine tweezers to carefully lift the head of the coaxial antenna cable straight up off its terminal on the sub-board.

    Pry out the microphone board

    Slide a flat opening tool under the microphone sub-board and pry it up from the light adhesive holding it to the frame.

    Install the new microphone board

    Set the new microphone daughterboard into the bottom cavity and press gently to seat it against the chassis adhesive.

    Reconnect the antenna cable

    Align the coaxial antenna head over its socket on the new board and press down until it snaps securely into place.

    Reconnect the interconnect cable

    Align the main ribbon connector over the bottom socket on the new sub-board and press down firmly to connect it.

    Reconnect the battery cable

    Press the battery flex connector back onto its mainboard terminal until you feel a light click.

    Secure the speaker housing

    Place the lower speaker assembly back over the bottom board and replace the six Phillips PH00 screws.

    Reseal the back cover

    Apply custom cut adhesive tape or B-7000 glue to the frame perimeter, press the back cover down, and hold pressure for two minutes.
