Step-by-step

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Press firmly to pop out and remove the SIM card tray.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer along the outer edges of the rear panel for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup and insert pick
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower rear panel and pull up gently to create a gap. Insert a plastic opening pick under the plastic back cover seam.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the perimeter adhesive. Do not force the pick too deep.

2 minSlightly lift the back cover to reveal the fingerprint cable. Use a spudger to disconnect the flex cable from the logic board before removing the cover entirely.

Remove motherboard bezel screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to unthread all screws securing the upper plastic motherboard cover.

Pry off the upper motherboard cover
2 minInsert the tip of a spudger beneath the plastic motherboard cover and pry up to unclip it from the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket to prevent short circuits.

2 minGently insert a spudger beneath the bottom edge of the logic board and pry it upward out of the phone frame.
