   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before continuing.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject pin into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

   Heat the rear panel

   Apply heat evenly across the perimeter of the back cover for two minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive.

   Insert an opening pick

   Press a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull upward to create a slight gap. Insert an opening pick into the gap.

   Slice the perimeter adhesive

   Slide the opening pick along all four sides of the frame to unclip the back cover and cut through adhesive.

   Open the back cover

   Gently tilt the back cover open from the right edge like a book. Do not pull it away completely because the fingerprint reader cable is still attached.

   Remove the fingerprint bracket screw

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the single screw securing the metal bracket over the fingerprint sensor connector.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

   Use the tip of a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor press connector directly up from its socket. Set the back cover aside.

   Unscrew the motherboard cover

   Remove the 11 Phillips #000 screws securing the black plastic motherboard shield to the frame.

    Remove the motherboard shield

    Insert a spudger under the bottom notch of the motherboard shield and lift it off the phone frame.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery press connector straight up off the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power.

    Unscrew the loudspeaker module

    Remove the 7 Phillips #000 screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing.

    Remove the loudspeaker assembly

    Pry up the loudspeaker module from the bottom edge and remove it from the phone frame.

    Disconnect the interconnect cable

    Pry up both press connectors for the main display and sub-board interconnect cable, then remove the cable.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the side edges of the battery to weaken the strong adhesive.

    Pry up the battery

    Insert a wide plastic card or stiff spudger underneath the battery from the left side and slowly pry upwards.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the degraded battery out of the frame and set it aside safely for proper recycling.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Lay fresh adhesive strips into the empty battery bay frame and peel off the protective backing.

    Install the new battery

    Align the replacement battery in the bay and press down firmly to set it into the adhesive.
