   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button on the right edge, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or thin pin into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it out of the device.

   Heat the back cover

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the outer edges of the rear cover for 2 to 3 minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the plastic back panel.

   Create an opening seam

   Attach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull gently upward. Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap created between the cover and outer frame.

   Unclip and remove the back cover

   Slide the plastic pick along all four sides to release the internal plastic clips and adhesive. Slowly lift the cover away without tearing the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable.

   Unscrew the top motherboard bracket

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the upper plastic motherboard cover. Keep track of the screws for reassembly.

   Remove the top motherboard bracket

   Insert the flat edge of a spudger under the edge of the upper plastic shield and pop it off the motherboard.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

   Pry the fingerprint sensor flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a spudger. Completely remove and set aside the back cover.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Use a plastic spudger to detach the battery press connector from the motherboard. Disconnecting power prevents electrical shorts during repair.

    Unscrew the lower loudspeaker housing

    Remove the Phillips screws holding down the lower speaker enclosure at the bottom of the phone frame.

    Remove the loudspeaker housing

    Pry up the loudspeaker assembly with a spudger and remove it to access the bottom sub-board connectors.

    Disconnect the display flex cable

    Use the spudger to pry up the display flex cable connector from the daughterboard/motherboard.

    Heat the front display panel

    Apply heat evenly across the front perimeter of the screen for 2-3 minutes to soften the display glass adhesive.

    Slice the display adhesive

    Press a suction cup to the glass, pull up, and slide a thin pick between the glass panel and the frame border. Work around all edges to slice the perimeter glue.

    Separate the screen from the frame

    Lift the display assembly off the frame while carefully guiding its flex cable out through the frame slot.

    Clean residual adhesive off the frame

    Use tweezers and isopropyl alcohol to clear away old tape and broken glass remnants from the bezel frame. A clean frame ensures the new display sits completely flush.

    Apply new screen adhesive

    Apply pre-cut double-sided screen adhesive strips to the perimeter frame recedes. Peel off the protective film backings.

    Install the new screen assembly

    Thread the new screen's flex cable through the slot in the frame and press the panel into place. Firmly run your fingers along the edges to secure adhesion.
