Step-by-step
- 1
Turn off the Moto G Power
1 minPress and hold the power button on the side of the phone, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the upper-left edge of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it out completely.

Heat the rear panel edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hairdryer set to low heat along the edges of the plastic back panel for 2 minutes to soften the rear adhesive.

Slice the back cover adhesive
3 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge and pull upward to create a small gap. Insert an opening pick and slide it around the perimeter to slice through the adhesive.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minGently swing the back cover open from the left side like a book cover. Use a spudger to snap the fingerprint reader flex cable off the motherboard.

Unscrew the lower speaker cover
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the plastic speaker housing at the bottom of the phone.

Remove the speaker assembly
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the speaker module and carefully pry it out of the chassis to expose the daughterboard.

Disconnect the main interconnect cable
1 minPry the ribbon cable connector straight up off the lower sub-board using the flat edge of a spudger.

Unplug the antenna coaxial cable
1 minUse precision tweezers to grip the head of the white antenna cable and gently pop it off its socket on the daughterboard.

Pry up the old microphone sub-board
2 minSlide a flat spudger under the daughterboard housing the primary microphone and carefully pop it loose from the frame adhesive.

Position the replacement sub-board
2 minAlign the new microphone daughterboard in the bottom recess of the phone and press down lightly to seat it in place.

Reconnect the antenna and interconnect cables
2 minSnap the antenna coaxial cable and main flex connector securely onto their matching sockets on the new board.

Reinstall the lower speaker housing
2 minPlace the speaker module back over the sub-board and drive in the Phillips #00 screws until snug.

Attach the fingerprint cable and rear panel
3 minSnap the fingerprint sensor flex cable back onto the motherboard, apply fresh perimeter adhesive, and press the rear cover firmly back onto the frame.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minAlign the SIM card tray with the slot on the left side of the device and push it in until sit flush with the frame.
