   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen before beginning disassembly.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the frame and push firmly to remove the tray.

   Heat the rear cover edges

   Apply mild heat along the rear perimeter with a heat gun or hair dryer for two minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

   Slice the rear cover adhesive

   Place a suction cup on the lower back panel and pull up slightly to insert an opening pick into the gap.

   Unclip the rear cover perimeter

   Slide the plastic opening pick gently around all four edges to release the perimeter clips and adhesive bond.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex

   Lift the rear cover slightly from the left edge and use a plastic spudger to detach the fingerprint reader connector.

   Unscrew the upper motherboard cover

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic upper midframe shield.

   Remove the upper midframe cover

   Insert a spudger under the top edge of the plastic midframe shield and gently lift it out of the chassis.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Pry the battery press-connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic opening tool.

    Disconnect the main interconnect cable

    Detach the flex cable running across the lower portion of the battery to clear the removal path.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol around the battery

    Drip a few drops of high-purity isopropyl alcohol down the sides of the battery to weaken the underlying adhesive.

    Pry the battery from the housing

    Slide a flat plastic card or wide spudger under the battery edge and slowly lift until it detaches.

    Clean the battery well

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery frame using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Lay fresh double-sided adhesive strips into the recessed battery compartment and peel off the protective backing.

    Position the new battery

    Align the replacement battery into the frame and press down firmly to set it into the adhesive.

    Reconnect the main interconnect cable

    Align and press the interconnect flex cable back onto its motherboard socket until it clicks into place.

    Plug in the battery cable

    Snap the new battery flex connector into the motherboard socket.

    Reinstall the upper midframe cover

    Lower the plastic top shield onto the motherboard and press around the edges until it snaps into position.

    Fasten the upper midframe screws

    Reinsert and tighten all Phillips screws across the upper midframe shield.

    Reconnect the fingerprint reader cable

    Hold the rear cover near the frame and press the fingerprint sensor flex connector onto its motherboard socket.

    Reseal the rear cover

    Align the rear panel with the frame and press firmly along all edges until the plastic clips snap closed.

    Reinsert the SIM card tray

    Push the SIM tray back into its slot on the left frame until it sits flush.
