Step-by-step

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the side of the phone and push firmly to pop out the tray.

Warm the back panel
2 minApply heat to the edges of the rear cover using a heat gun set to low for about two minutes.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back panel near the bottom edge.

Create a pry gap
2 minPull up on the suction cup handle to create a tiny gap between the back cover and frame.

Insert an opening pick
1 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the seam created by the suction cup.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the device to cut through the adhesive seal.

Lift off the back cover

Unscrew the loudspeaker cover

1 minGently pry up the antenna cable connector from the corner of the sub-board using fine tweezers.

Pry out the faulty sub-board
2 minInsert a flat spudger under the lower edge of the sub-board and carefully lift it out.

Transfer the microphone rubber boot
2 minCheck the old board for a small rubber microphone gasket and transfer it to the replacement board.

Seat the new sub-board
2 minAlign the replacement microphone sub-board into the lower cavity of the frame and press it flat.

Reconnect flex and antenna cables
2 minSnap the interconnect ribbon connector and antenna cable securely onto the new sub-board.

Reinstall the loudspeaker cover
2 minSet the loudspeaker back into position over the sub-board and replace all Phillips screws.

Reattach the back cover
3 minApply new adhesive tape to the perimeter and press the rear cover back firmly onto the device.
